Finally! After telling students they needed to use an acrylic UV sealer for their Copic work that would be exposed to sunlight (such as a hanging ornament, window hangings, jewelry) – I've finally found one, that is readilly available and works really well. Super Seal – it should have a cape on the can!
It's Super Seal, by Creative Imaginations. It's got that perfect combination of UV protection and acrylic (instead of alcohols, like a Krylon product has, for example), and in a spray can format. A sales rep had mentioned it as a possibility, but without the product to look at – I was skeptical. Even then, I got the can and put it on the worktable with the, "I'll get to that later" thought process going on. Well later arrived and this stuff is awesome!
Like it says on the can:
- Quick drying
- Water resistant
- Acid Free
- Light Fast
- Inkjet Print Safe
So I tested it, both on an image colored onto cardstock, transparency and acrylic with Copic Markers. It passed with flying colors. Nothing budged.
It didn't make the cardstock work look all glossy and weird. It was crystal clear on the clear surfaces. Voila! All we need now is a cape for the can.
I intend to use it on my hybrid / digital work too, since it's inkjet safe.
Luckily the weather outside is getting nicer by the day, because you will need to spray outside, or in a very well-ventilated area.
Ask your retailer if they are carrying it. If not, they should be. Fantastic stuff!
