We Love To Read!

Today is ‘We Love To Read’ day at the kids’ elementary school.  They are dressed up as a favorite character and there will be a character parade later this afternoon.  It was fun to see what characters they chose to portray.

Bugaboo went all elegant on me (she really is growing up on me, isn’t she?), as Queen Luxa of Gregor the Overlander in the Underland Chronicles.  I braided her hair and she wore a velveteen skirt and top that was given to her by (her idol), 15 year old M. who lives at the end of the street.

I feel like singing ‘I Feel Pretty’ from West Side Story.  She was positively beaming.  Even stole a little bit of lip gloss from the bathroom, I see!

Little C. chose to portray Huckle Cat of Huckle Cat’s Busiest Day Ever by Richard Scary.

Laura provided the headband and tail from a Halloween costume.  A little face paint and we were all set.  Isn’t she proud?

And Buddy went with the fearsome Sith Warrior.  I don’t know which book he was aiming for, but he has been fascinated by the more evil characters on the dark side of Star Wars since we went to Disney Studios in February.  Pretty scary, huh?

I know it won’t be too long before my mad skillz at face painting will be an embarrassment to this little trio of mine.  But for now, it’s pretty darn fun to be a mom!  I had a very fun morning.

Ok, back to laundry and emptying out the vanity in the upstairs bathroom.  The kids aren’t the only ones undergoing cosmetic changes. The bathroom remodeling is in full swing and we are down to one bathroom for the 5 of us.  I got everybody ready this morning and felt as though I was having a shower by proxy!
