Hi, friends!
Anyone who has been following me on Facebook or Instagram has seen some wonderful snapshots from my trip to Japan. It has been such a wonderful experience that it deserves some words with the photos, don’t you think? So some blog posts are in order.
Starting with the day I went to a wonderful rubber stamp creative store in Tokyo called Kodomonokao / Stamp Ripple to demonstrate Gel Printing for their Global Stamp’n Meister Association members.
Ms. Hirose and Yayoi were my hosts – and the ladies and gentlemen in attendance were so lovely.
I demonstrated for the group, with Ms. Hirose providing a leaf from outside the store to create this lovely print.
With this I discovered that “oooooh…. aaaaaah” is an international response to a sucessful demonstration as shown in this short video:
And I have now started a new tradition in Japanese printmaking – the love of making backgrounds with bubblewrap or プチプチ (puchipuchi).
Thank you to all who came and made this visit a true delight. Courtney and I truly appreciated your welcome and hospitality as evidenced by our little Gel Printing heart.
Looking forward to the next time we visit!
