Oh this was easy for me to find.  I have many hobbies, and while many would think the most obvious choice for me would be a scrapbook page, card, or altered item — my favorite canvas is: a child’s face:

I am a face painter.  I cannot remember how it started, except perhaps that I had someone come to do it at Brianna’s 2nd birthday party and I was so thoroughly unimpressed with the so-called professional that I had hired.  And I cannot draw!

There is something so truly amazing that happens when you get a child to tell you their favorite colors and let them try something on for the day.  That moment when they look into my big mirror and see their transformation – I wish I could bottle it for gloomy days.  There is no sunshine more radiant than the twinkle in their eyes.

So here is my Courtney and her ‘butterfleye’.

I’ll be painting at the carnival for the Botsford Volunteer Fire Department this coming weekend at the Newtown High School.  I cannot wait.
