Wow, the weather has made an abrupt change towards cooler temperatures. It's nearly noon and barely creeping past 60 degrees! Last night I had the deck doors open to bring in the breeze and huddled up under Grandma's quilt.
Then I got a tearful phone call at 10:30pm from 'little C' aka Courtney, that she wanted to come home from her friend's house where she was spending the night. Her friend keeps later hours and so Courtney was overtired and cranky. Then when it was time to go to bed, nothing would work to get to sleep because she was wound up.
- The windows were open and it was making noise.
- She keeps the light on in the hallway and I couldn't even sleep with my pillow over my head.
- etc. etc.
But with just me at home and three children in bed incl. a friend spending the night here as well – I didn't want to roust them all up to go get Courtney. So I called my friend, Laura — and don't you know she completely understood and watched over them while I went out to get Courtney.
When I got back home and tucked in the tuckered little C., I set about making a card for Laura.
I like the sentiment set from, appropriately named, My Sentiments Exactly. This one is a great two-parter for cards which reads:
"If there's anything a friend can do…
…this friend would be most happy to."
And the cooler weather inspired me to pull out these pumpkins and color them. These stamps have the wonderful stippled shading appearance to the images. They give you great hints about where to apply your colored shading. I stamped them with Memento's London Fog color – which is lovely for getting a softer impression and more realistic look for nature imprints.
I used my favorite pumpkin colors:
Copics: YR16 / YR14 / YR18 with a little YR61 to make them less bright.
YG91 / YG95 / YG97 for the stems
The papers are from Graphic 45, Transatlantique collection.
Embellishments: The wonderful felt vine is from Prima. It's called DeVines. Perfect name! And the leaves are cut from specialty paper from the Flirty Little Secret collection. Dew Drops from The Robin's Nest.
Spellbinders dies used: Nestabilities Labels Four and Labels One sets.
Stamps: The cute little bug is from Crafty Secrets. The Pumpkins are from CTMH Co.
I'm going with her to a fundraiser for Kevin's Community Center tonight, "Mozart, Merlot and Mums". Sounds wonderful (if the skies stay just gray and not rainy!). So I hope you are having a better weather Saturday in the company of good friends too.
