DLP Challenges: Week 14 – What’s in a name?

This journal page is part of the Documented Life Project.  The challenge for Week 14 is here if you are new to this process or want to play along.

March 29 Challenge (Week Fourteen) – What's in a Name?

This week's challenge was to write your name and embellish it.

Here is the page I created in my art journal based on the challenge.

To start, I used a scrap of painted paper – the bits that are always lying underneath what you are working on.  I took that potential and added stamped designs.  I stamped squares in Stazon Black Cherry and rectangles in CTMH Juniper.  I added a quatrefoil and script background with Memento Luxe in Elderberry and a dash of Delicata Gold ink.

Then I masked off the letters with a Heidi Swapp letter set with and painted over the top with Golden Fluid Acrylics in Titan Buff.  Sometimes I just prefer that color to the white of Gesso or Titanium White.  It covers but doesn't become the focal point so harshly.

I sprayed over the top of this with a dark purple spray ink and allowed it to dry.  Then I removed the letter masks revealing the original background underneath.

I outlined the letters with a black technical pen.

I drew a frame around the letters with a black china marker.

And as a last bit of texture, I sponged Titan Buff through a piece of sequin waste randomly around the project.

This week Courtney returns to school full time.  Because of this I will also be able to return to doing my videos and blogs for The Technique Hump.  Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for looking!
