RAKing goodbye to summer and looking forward to colorful Fall…

September 5, 2008 by admin 17 Comments

Do you ever do this?  Work on a piece, and then pick it up every time you sit down to work — and work on it some more?  Well that is how it was with this lovely tag.  But I think it is finally done.  And the only way to ensure that is to send it off to a new owner.  Please, take it from me.  LOL!  Leave a comment, and I'll do one of those random comment number generator things on Sunday.  OK?

This fluttering beauty starts off with a background made from Worn Lipstick, Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks.

Then I stamped some images from Rubbernecker's Jeanne Streif collection in Dried Marigold and heat embossed one in clear.  I sponged over the last one for contrast.  Finally some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Bronze.  When that was dry, I stamped the sentiment in Vintage Photo Distress ink, and then slightly offset in waterproof black ink.

Now onto the butterfly.  The bottomost layer is Grungeboard, covered with Gold Paint Dabber, and sponged off a bit.

The top layer of the butterfly is from Creative Imaginations.  I love their chipboard pieces because they have just enough gloss on the white coating to take alcohol ink well.  I first showed this technique at NSD during a demonstration.  Does this give you a sense about how long I've been workin' this piece?

This is finished off with some gold Stickles for the antennae.

I pulled out my Autumn decor this past weekend and put away all the butterfly candles for the season.  One of the items gracing my front entrance hall table is the glass pumpkin that Cheryl Mezzetti gave me last year at the Scrap Pink event in Milford.  It is so lovely!

And added to this, an almost magical quality to this Partylite Hurricane fixture.  When the light hits it, little diamonds of color are floating all through the hallway!  I bought it from my neighbor, Sarah, who is a new Partylite consultant.

Ah.  The weekend is here.  Little C. has her first cheerleading event on Saturday.  Can you imagine little 7-8 year old football players, cheered on by cheerleaders of the same age?  Needless to say, all cameras are charged and ready.  Have a great weekend and enjoy the little sneak peeks of Fall color that are popping up everywhere – at least here in Connecticut.

No sign of fall here in FL yet – just more hurricanes and rain on the horizon 🙁 The tag is gorgeous!!!! I would love to give it a new home! I love your mosaic hurricane and pumpkin also – I am becoming a more avid fan of mosaic in my home decor! It’s so colorful and cheerful!

Instagram post 2191587425254464406_392177945 I finished my #resin #necklace, which started with a @gelpress print in the bright #copper #bezel from @ranger_ink and ended up including a wing element that my Mother-in-law gave me over the Thanksgiving holiday from a broken necklace. Sheet music #collaged into the resin says 'Cresc. molto' which roughly translated means 'growing a lot' and has become my talisman and phrase for 2020. Do you have a word or phrase for the coming year that helps guide your goals and dreams?
