JustRite 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hop #6

October 13, 2010 by admin 11 Comments

Welcome to JustRite Stampers’ newest Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops #6!   Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps!  This week, it’s most of the Copic design team and Certification instructors!  So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog!

Projects (all images are 'clickable' for a larger view)

JustRite stamps has some wonderful Christmas 2010 stamps that I worked with today.  My first project is a Christmas card featuring the Nutcracker image from the Vintage Christmas Set.

IMG_1134print
I stamped the sentiment frame from the Vintage Christmas Set in Stazon Metallic gold ink onto a goldenrod cardstock and trimmed it with the Spellbinders Nestabilities set as shown below.  I actually cut the die-cut image and extended it slightly to fit underneath the other die-cut punch out frame.

IMG_1133print
I stamped the Nutcracker image, also from the Vintage Christmas Set with Memento Rich Cocoa brown ink onto white cardstock and colored with my Copic markers.  I used R22/R24/R39 for his suit, Y32/Y17/Y28 for the gold brocade and hat decoration, BV23/BV25,BV29 and 100 for his hat and black details, a smidgeon of B34/B39 for his eyes, W00/W0/W2 for his hair and beard and E21/E25, and a smidgeon of E13 for his wooden face.  B32/W2 was used for the backdrop.  I accentuated the gold details, snowflakes, etc. with Spica glitter pens in Champagne Gold, Clear and Baby Blue.

Details are everything and I wanted an ornate richness to this card that complemented the Nutcracker.  So I used a Fiskars border punch to create a holly leaf and berry border.  But to accentuate it, I used the 3L EZRunner, with the skinny little strips to apply glue only to the holly berry punchouts.

I flipped this over and sprinkled it with red glitter.

Once I dusted off the excess glitter and returned it to the container, I set about coloring in the holly leaves with a PITT Metallic ink pen in green and added a center vein to each leaf with a Spica Glitter Pen in dark green.

I hope you like the resulting card.

My second project is a Christmas card with more of a tone-on-tone classic appeal.

IMG_1140web
I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Nested Sentiments set in Memento Bamboo Leaves green ink onto a ivy cardstock and dragged the edges through some Copper Glimmer Mist.  I airbrushed a large epoxy frame with YG45 around the edges and placed it atop the focal point.  I then overstamped the sentiment with Stazon Metallic Ink in gold, just slightly offset to make it pop.  Finally I sprayed the background with English Ivy Glimmer Mist to further obscure the repeated stamping.  Prima poinsettia flowers are layered and topped with Say It In Crystal centers.

Poinsettia flowers on both projects are from Prima.

And finally, an ink extravaganza…in the form of a holiday card.  I love to take something plain and ink it up like the Dickens :).  It is for the holidays after all.

IMG_1142web
Once again, I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Nested Sentiments set in Memento Bamboo Leaves green ink onto a white cardstock backdrop.  I placed stencils of a tree and ironworks fence onto the background and airbrushed around the perimeter with YG03/YG45 ink.  I then 'stamped' the stencils in English Ivy and Copper Glimmer Mist into the negative spaces left behind after the airbrushing.  I stamped the focal point sentiment onto a contrasting cardstock and layered it with a large epoxy frame, airbrushed with YG45 and place over light gold organdy ribbon.  The bottom of the card is decorated with Prima poinsettia flowers and leaves and a Say It In Crystals center.

It is amazing how similar the techniques were for these two cards – and yet what a difference!

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas cards today.  If you've been following along, the hop is nearing it's end.  If you are just getting started, please visit these designers’ blogs to see what fabulous Christmas projects they have for you on the hop today!

Instagram post 2191587425254464406_392177945 I finished my #resin #necklace, which started with a @gelpress print in the bright #copper #bezel from @ranger_ink and ended up including a wing element that my Mother-in-law gave me over the Thanksgiving holiday from a broken necklace. Sheet music #collaged into the resin says 'Cresc. molto' which roughly translated means 'growing a lot' and has become my talisman and phrase for 2020. Do you have a word or phrase for the coming year that helps guide your goals and dreams?
